Our Story

Our cattery is based out of San Diego.  We breed and show Cornish Rex & Turkish Angora.  Here is how I got

into the cat world.

My love of Cornish Rex started back in 1999.  I had moved to San Diego and had unwittingly moved into a

building that was owned by a CFA Judge by the name of Wayne Park.  When I first laid eyes on a Cornish

Rex it was all over!  They had such a unique look to them; much different than the “normal” cats I had known

over the years.

When Wayne realized I was so into the cats, he took me to my first show.  I was introduced to Bill and Nancy

Gott.  Nancy let me put a cat into the show ring.  I couldn’t believe this lady was letting a complete stranger

touch her cherished show cat!!!!!  Well that was all it took.

I shortly went over to Bill and Nancy’s house to look at the kitten they thought was going to be good for me.

She took me into where the kittens were and I met the cat who changed my life, really.  Sloan (I had always

said that if I were to have a child her name would be Sloan).  So, I named her Rex-O-Rama Sloan Ranger.  I

didn’t know how lucky I was or what I was even looking at.  All I knew was that I loved that little kitty more

than anything.  It turns out that Bill and Nancy were working on improving the type and look of the pointed

(Siamese colors) Cornish Rex and Sloan just happened to be a Calico.  Yeah for me!

Well, she went on to be my first Grand Champion and achieve the honor of being a Distinguished Merit cat.

Not only did she become a D.M., but she is the Mother of the cat GC Cozmecats Starship Trooper who is

the number one producing male D.M. Cornish Rex who has over 30 Grands to his name.

I have achieved a lot of success with the cats since then.  More Grand Champion, Regional Winners than I

can count.  This is because I stayed true to myself and what I like in a Cornish Rex.

Turkish Angora cats came into my life in 2004.  My friend in Germany, Gudrun Roscher had gotten two

Cornish Rex from me.  One day we were talking and I said that in the future I might be interested in showing a

Turkish Angora.  She said, "Phillip, I have the most beautiful cat I have ever bred!". I said, "Okay,  bring her to

the International."  Well, I fell in love immediately with GC, RW, BW Dschadi‘s Yildiz and at that show, she

was the highest Scoring T.A. kitten.  WOW, what a start!  She went on to be my first Turkish Angora Grand

and she was also the Breed Winner for that season.  It was also the First Grand Champion for Gudrun; as

it is very difficult to Grand a minority Breed in Europe.  Yildiz was bred to a Male from my friend, Kathryn

Amman.  His name was Katsnjazz Wishuponastar.

From my original cat I have kept the bloodline of Yildiz and always will.  I will always be eternally grateful to

Gudrun for introducing me to the Turkish Angora.  The Turks are special to me in a different way than the

Cornish. The Turkish Angora have their own energy and vivaciousness that make them unique.

I had much success in my life with the cats, but not my personal life.

Along came Ken and the first thing I said to him was “I hope you like cats?”   Well he does.  Otherwise, it

would never have worked.  He helps me with whatever I need and loves the kittens and Sloan.  Sloan loves

him also.  That was the Acid test for me.  To see how the cats reacted to Ken.  He passed the test.  Sloan is

spoiled, but she shares.

We raise our kittens with us.  They are born most times on our bed in a birthing box, and that’s how we like

it.  They are raised with us with love and affection as if they are all show cats.
